After all, there are many nuances that are characteristic of the work of public catering establishments, which are not known to anyone, except for the people working in them. And they affect the quality of the final products.

Employees of cafes and restaurants on the forum shared 10 dishes that they will never order for themselves, even if they are very hungry.

1. Filet-o-Fish and other fish dishes in fast food establishments

McDonald's, KFC, and other popular fast food outlets don't go to eat fish. They usually order french fries, hamburgers with meat, chicken rolls. If at some point there is a visitor who wants to try something with fish, they will, of course, cook it for him. But it is important to consider that this fish, most likely, was stored in the refrigerator for months. It is definitely not fresh, despite the fact that it is only cooked, hot and looks delicious.

2. Dish with the only ingredient on the menu

Imagine you walk into a restaurant and choose roast rabbit or foie gras from the menu, and all other dishes include pork or chicken. This means that the main ingredient in your order is not used often in this establishment. They buy it and store it for a very long time until the gourmet who orders it is found.

The story is the same as with the fish at McDonald's. The product will not be fresh, but not necessarily, it will not taste good. Most likely, you won't even notice anything. But understanding that you have been served a product that has lain in the refrigerator for a couple of months will definitely ruin your appetite.

Or any other drink served with lots of ice cubes. The problem is that ice machines in fast food establishments and other cafes are rarely cleaned. Therefore, the number of bacteria in the ice exceeds the number of germs in the toilets of the same establishments.

4. Rolls of an unusual shape

As a rule, anything that looks unusual attracts the attention of visitors. This is reflected in the cost of the dish, which can be twice as high just because of the special “appearance”. If you are offered rolls of the original form in sushiria, be sure that there are those on the menu that are made from exactly the same ingredients, only at a more humane price.

5. Dishes with truffle oil

Truffles are rare, valuable and very expensive mushrooms. They are prepared only in top-level restaurants, and such dishes cost as much as two salaries of a state employee. However, in establishments of a lower rank, as a delicacy, they can offer a dish with truffle oil, which is designed to create a unique aroma of a valuable delicacy.

The waiters working in such establishments admit that they treat the people ordering these dishes as ... not very smart. The fact is that "truffle oil" is a synthetic product in which there is nothing from truffles and generally little natural. Only chemical additives and flavorings.

6. Cheese Sauce

Everything that is poured with cheese sauces is very high in calories. This dressing is made from butter with the addition of curd cheese. Eating one serving of pasta with cheese sauce, you can easily get 90 percent of the daily calorie intake. And don't even notice it.

7. Secret drink at Starbucks

Starbucks coffee shops have a "secret menu" that the customer can use. It seems that it is interesting and original to order something special. But in fact, the "secret menu" is nothing more than a marketing ploy. As such, it does not exist in a "formulated form". Accordingly, there are no techniques for preparing "secret" drinks.

What will be prepared for you will depend on the mood of the waiter. Most likely, it will be just a coffee drink with a huge amount of sugar.

8. Cocktail with fruit decor

10. Any dish if the menu has more than eight pages

It is impossible to always use fresh products if there are several dozen dishes on the menu. The voluminous menu indicates that the ingredients will not be fresh. Or that they don’t cook anything in this establishment, but only heat up ready-made food, which is stored in bags in the refrigerator.
