• Granular polystyrene as a universal filler (only 3 kg of this filler will be enough for a medium-sized pillow).
• Silk or polyester threads in the fabric.
• Scissors;
• Sewing machine;
• Needle and thread;

• Ruler and chalk.

Step-by-step instructions for making a floor pillow

When all the materials and tools are in front of you, we can safely get to work. 1. We start by marking the sides of our pillow with you. To do this, fold the upholstery fabric in half and use a piece of chalk to mark the center point, which will be located just on the fold line of the fabric.

2. In order to outline two more “reference points”, we need to lay out this fabric in a different way, wrapping the sides so that their edges meet at the already marked point in the center of the fabric. We mark these points with chalk, but only from the opposite side of the fabric, carefully look at the pattern and you will understand everything and understand all the “subtleties”.

3. Transfer all the dots and letters according to the pattern to the fabric, this is very important for the next steps.

4. And now VERY CAREFULLY proceed to sewing our pillow: We combine and pin with pins from the inside of the walls A and A1 so that there are no distortions and sew with dense silk threads. For safety net, lay another line to give greater strength to the product. At the same time, we must retreat 1.5 cm from the edge of the fabric. So that the fabric does not unravel at the edges, they can be processed with an overlock, or you can use the “zigzag” function, which all modern sewing machines are equipped with; We are next interested in sides B and B1. Which we also need to carefully combine and flash it with the other; And now VERY CAREFULLY we connect the whole side B with half the side B1 - it is very important not to confuse anything now - check the instruction-pattern!

5. We turn our pillow blank inside out;

6. Loosely stuff the sewn fabric cover with granular polystyrene. Why is it loose? Yes, because by stuffing the pillow to the top, you will deprive your mother of the joy of lying on a pillow that takes any convenient position!

7. We have one non-stitched side of the pillow left, which falls exactly on the sides of B2 and half of the side of B1. We bend the edges of these sides, side cuts inward and sew with blind stitches.

And this means that each side of our triangular elements will be the same. In our case, 40 cm. We mark equilateral triangles on the fabric and cut them out with sharp scissors. First, the first 3 triangles are folded and sewn together, then the second 3 triangles are also sewn together. All seams are made from the wrong side! Then you need to fold one blank of 3 triangles with the same other one and sew it neatly, combining the center and edges. On one side, leave 5 cm of fabric unsewn - through this cut, we can turn the already sewn pillowcase inside out and fill the pillow with a suitable filler. Sew the other side of the star pillow in the same way. You should end up with two identical parts:

We combine two parts face to face and sew along the edge. The pillowcase is ready! We turn it on the face through a specially left hole and fill the filler through it. Using the technique of hidden seams, carefully sew up the hole.

We take two huge buttons and fit them with the same fabric from which the pillow is sewn. We sew in the very center of the pillow at the same time through our buttons - EVERYTHING!
