Just some 5 years ago, when 53 years old crept up on me unnoticed, I could not even dream of my six-pack and marathon races.
Today I am full of energy, health, drive and will give odds to any 30-year-old. A few years ago, coronary heart disease almost became my killer.
I am writing all this so that you forget about diets and wrong attitudes, unknowingly laid down by our parents.
In order to lose weight or become slim (as you like), you just need to change your taste habits in favor of healthy foods and start doing even gentle physical exercises every day.
I share only my own experience. But first things first…
How did I get my motivation?
I’m ashamed to admit that the maximum that I allowed myself before from physical exertion was hiking from the door of the house to the door of the car with two sets of 10 minutes each, not counting a series of jumps without a springboard with an accurate aim at the sofa. That's all kinds of sports.
At that moment, everything suited me. An ordinary average man with layers of fat on his stomach. I thought that if many people of my age look like this, then this is the norm!
You are probably familiar with such a life of pleasure.
When you eat delicious food every day. All kinds of sweets are sent to the stomach: fast food, chips, sushi, rolls, sweets, rolls. All this is washed down with beer or soda, and life is seen in bright colors. All the blessings of the world revolve around food.
Do you recognize yourself? You lead a sedentary lifestyle, and at night you begin to cheer yourself up by running to the kitchen.
The thought of "sniffing the treasured cake" ends with "complex refueling to the bone."
About what happens in your clogged intestines after all these "sweets" history is silent.
Is it familiar?
Throw the tenth candy into yourself and think to yourself: “Well, that's it! This one was definitely the last! And after this last one, the hand itself reaches for another last one, then another, another ...
The finish comes only when you realize that the "enemies" will not get anything.
So many women, as a rule, seize their grievances for life, for men, for the whole world.
Men, by the way, are no exception. Soothing in the form of sweets and alcohol, as a substitute for self-love.
Forget these myths about genetics and hormonal disruptions. It's all in our head and stomach .
Weak spine, overweight, it becomes more and more difficult to move around. I also came up with an absurd excuse for myself that this is age.
Scales were thrown into the far corner. Pain in my forearms after any exercise, shortness of breath, joint pains were added to my flabby muscles. The list of strange phenomena is endless.
These are the first calls. The bell rang later.
Man was born to run, but if it's not about us...
In search of adventure and new emotions, I decided to go camping. Agree, you can’t imagine a better motivation than to seriously take care of your health before conquering mountain peaks.
There were honest attempts to improve my fitness before the start, but at the very last moment of preparation, I gave up.
I calmed down at the thought that running and I were not made for each other. I betrayed myself!
Later I was very sorry that there was no support next to me then. There was no experienced mentor who would explain to me why I need to run and how to do it correctly so as not to give up everything halfway.
The turning point began for me a year later.
“Do you want to survive? Change your lifestyle forever!”
Our body is so arranged that every day it begins to grow decrepit if the musculoskeletal system does not work in full. Yesterday you jumped like a grasshopper, today you smoothly circulate between the sofa and the armchair.
This way of life leads to all sorts of failures of the body. You slowly fade away and feel like a smartphone without recharging. A little more and straight to paradise, as Banderos sings in their song, only paradise is already in the truest sense of the word. Are there envious?
In 2007, I began to worry about high blood pressure, accompanied by pain in the region of the heart.
The program of self-destruction has started.
The doctor told me directly: “Do you want to live? Change your lifestyle forever!
I suddenly became incapable of joking. Sit and wait until you die? Moreover, my father, after a long heart disease, passed away early, at the age of 58.
The lines of Vizbor flashed through my head:
Blessed is the one who bypasses the shelter of the hospital,
Where thoughts will not be allowed to enjoy
The strained efforts of doctors.
And distant outlines of relatives
Are already deprived of charm
Due to the overflow of eyes.
Become the master of time or give up and call yourself an egoist?
I really wanted to live. I could not admit the thought that my children would be left without a father. And here time and your loved ones become a motivator for action : wife, children, parents, friends.
The time that gives you a choice: start acting right now or wait for the right moment, which, perhaps, will never come in this life.
Imagine for a moment that you can extend your life path with your own hands and become the master of time or give up like an egoist.
Consider that your children are worthy of becoming worthy role models for them.
Start to gradually bring yourself into shape, gradually increase the load.
And then the children, spouse or wife will not have to take care of you, when suddenly you come down with an incurable illness and cannot do without outside help.
Have your children come into this life to be your nurse? No need to live in fear that this is exactly what will happen. But it is better to protect yourself from trouble once and for all than to deliberately ruin your health. Why wait until it blows and play Russian roulette?
It's not enough to be young inside. You need to be young and outwardly, regardless of the number in your passport.
I do not urge you to urgently quit your business and run to conquer the triathlon. We'll leave that for later. Self-torture is useless.
It is enough just to eat in small portions and stop mixing incompatible products. You will not only save money and spend less time on cooking, but also comprehend new taste sensations for yourself.
Surely, you have already thought that the usual way of life has long ceased to suit you and the imaginary comfort zone is more like running in a circle.
The range of interests narrows to a meager space of options, and dreams continue to be dreams. Although these are not large-scale dreams, your movement forward is closed on them.
The dream is to change my 50-54 clothing size to 44-46.
The dream is to fit into old, but painfully beloved pants or a skirt.
A dream that the skin will no longer be flabby and unkempt.
The dream is to easily climb the stairs and reach your shoes without tripping over your own stomach.
Dream again or for the first time to become a mom or dad (and why not?).
Dream of traveling the world.
Dream of building your own house.
The dream is to meet the man or woman of "your dreams".
This is not to mention such desires as getting rid of cellulite, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness, drowsiness, pain in the joints from the fact that, due to immobilized life, muscles begin to atrophy in them.
You are hiding from health behind your own created problems of your body! The body is like litmus paper. It reflects all your many years of inaction in relation to yourself.
If you smoke, indulge in alcohol, eat all sorts of slag, it is not surprising that soon the body begins to sound the alarm and outwardly show you its “fi”.
Dream not dream, it's time to act! How long can you feed yourself on yesterday's breakfasts and feed your own fears that you mistake for laziness?
Healthy habits are not a summer diet, but a new lifestyle forever!
You are the only one who sets your own priorities in life.
Making the first step towards a new self is enough with good habits. Start not just living, but enjoy life, feel every atom of your body. Feel refreshed right now in the near future.
Catch this internal state when it appears:
- confidence and pride in yourself, in everything you do,
- pleasure from communicating with people, from everything that surrounds you,
- self-love, when the reflection in the mirror makes you happy, and does not lead to depression.
Make the choice to move, because movement is our pain healer and life source of energy .
