Describing knitting patterns in words is not always convenient. Especially if these are complex patterns, the description of which will be a large amount of text.
It is much easier to read such patterns with the help of diagrams and symbols, when each loop is assigned its own sign. For example, front loops can indicate + or /, purl. or - and so on.
These values are easily and quickly remembered so that after the first knitted report, you may not even look into the diagram.
How to read knitting patterns
Semu is read from right to left and from bottom to top. That is, exactly the way we hold the fabric when we knit.
All front rows - not even knit, as indicated in the diagram. Purl - even rows are knitted according to the pattern that we see. When the front loops are indicated in the front row, then in the wrong side these loops must be knitted with the wrong ones. And, on the contrary, purl - facial.
Sometimes in complex patterns, purl rows are also prescribed in the schemes. In this case, you need to knit exactly according to the pattern.
The scheme always gives the number of loops of the report. A report is a part of a pattern, consisting of a group of loops that are repeated in the pattern a certain number of times. The report on the diagram can be indicated by arrows or highlighted with a frame.
