The average adult can live 3-5 days without water
As someone whose body seems to function solely on coffee, this doesn't surprise me. Often in the afternoon I feel the urge to take a sip of water. But I never reach the recommended daily amount of two liters. It always seemed to me that a liter is enough for the body.
If we consider that our brain is 77% water, then one liter is not so much.
There are trillions of cells in our body, and each of them needs water to function. Therefore, it seems logical that the more liquid we add, the better it will work.
Research shows that in addition to supporting bodily functions, drinking plenty of water can help address health issues including headaches, indigestion, fatigue, and stress, as well as improve the appearance of our skin and help with weight loss.
I have suffered from insomnia and dry skin throughout my adult life, so I decided to test the theory with water.
Challenge: Drink three liters of water a day for one week to see if water really is the miracle cure science has to offer.
Day 1
I was pessimistic about the experiment. Can water replace expensive face cream?
I drank the first liter before 15:00. The second part of the day I ran to the toilet. 12 times that day! In the evening I felt uncomfortable. Belly distended.
Day 2
There were no changes. And the constant need for the toilet really interfered with everyday life.
Day 3
Sleep well! And noticed the amazing softness of the skin. The troubles of previous days were immediately forgotten. The skin became smoother and seemed to absorb the cream better.
I also felt a sudden surge of energy in the gym. Endurance improved, appetite decreased.
Day 4
I was glad my body was finally adjusting! The bloating went away and I no longer ran to the toilet every two minutes. HOORAY!
I had drunk a few glasses of wine the night before and was looking forward to the familiar headache after drinking. But no! I had no idea that water is the ultimate hangover cure!
Day 5
I finally saw the effect of water - bags and dark circles under the eyes became less.
I drank 3.5 liters. Regular sips of water have become a necessity.
Day 6
Clear skin and a clear head. I was surprised at how quickly my skin changed, it became hydrated and fresh.
I still went to the toilet more often than usual. But the pros outweighed 🙂
Day 7
The results exceeded all my expectations.
- The skin became moisturized, smooth, and dark circles under the eyes disappeared.
- I lost a little weight - by 0.4 kg. But I did not expect such an effect, my weight is normal.
- The quality of sleep has improved.
- More energy in the morning.
I'm not tempted to forego my moisturizer just yet, but I'm definitely going to drink a lot!
