Almost every one of us has things in the house that not only litter the space, but can also harm the life and health of the owners. Of course, there are items that we store especially carefully. These can be old photo albums, souvenirs from the sea or other cute little things that are nice to get and look at with the whole family. But this article is not about that.
Recently, I did a general cleaning in my apartment and selected a whole package of things that had been lying idle for many months and were only gathering dust, taking up useful space. When I threw them away, I felt a huge relief, as my apartment became brighter and safer. What are these things?
Old sponges or washcloths
I recently read that kitchen sponges should be changed every few days. Due to the fact that they are constantly in a humid environment, pathogenic bacteria and microbes form on their surface, which provoke an unpleasant odor. Therefore, I happily took several of these sponges to the trash can at once in order to get rid of what threatens the health of my family.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the washcloths. My husband loves to use them while bathing. Since washcloths are the same sponges, but we use them less often, I change them once a month.
Old plastic bottles
These things can be given a second life by turning them into nice souvenirs. However, in everything you need to know the measure. If there are a lot of such decorations in the room, then this will indicate the bad taste of the owner of the house. Of course, plastic bottles can be recycled, but it is also important to be careful here. It's all about the material from which this container is made. Plastic is a synthetic polymer, plastic, so it is not recommended to constantly pour liquid into the same bottle. After several such uses, I throw away plastic bottles without regret, which I cannot use in everyday life.
old chargers
They were allotted a whole drawer of the desk. After going through the chargers, I realized that none of them fit the mobile devices that we use at the moment. Therefore, without regret, I took all the chargers to the trash, thereby freeing up a whole desk drawer for the necessary things.
Dry flowers
A bouquet of beautiful flowers is the decoration of any living room or bedroom. But if the buds withered, it already spoils the whole interior.
Some of my friends like to put dried flowers on the shelves of sideboards. However, such bouquets can provoke the development of serious diseases, such as asthma and allergies. Dried flowers actively collect dust and dirt, which looks unattractive.
Dry plants hidden between the pages of books are another unnecessary thing that can be safely thrown away. If in the near future you are not going to make a herbarium, then feel free to send these dried flowers to the trash can.
Wire hangers
They are very convenient, as they do not take up much space and rarely deform. Nevertheless, such accessories spoil the clothes that are hung on them. Why? They are very thin, as a result of which the clothes are stretched.
Wire hangers are also inconvenient because they do not hold things well. Clothes simply slide off such accessories, making them useless in any home.
plastic containers
They are lightweight and very comfortable to use. But still, these containers are made of plastic - a synthetic material that is hazardous to health. Therefore, you should use plastic containers as little as possible, giving preference to dishes made from more natural materials. That is why I took all such containers to the trash.
old cosmetics
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I had a whole shelf in my dressing table for old cosmetics. Different sponges and makeup brushes, powder boxes and used lipsticks, eye shadows of different colors and varnishes of different shades ... After checking the expiration date of cosmetics, I realized that they should be sent to the trash can. I also carefully sorted out cosmetics for skin care. All kinds of creams and lotions took up a lot of space on the shelf, so I shamelessly threw them away.
As for those funds that have not yet expired, I carefully went over them to decide whether I would use them. For example, the year before last, I bought purple nail polish under an amethyst dress. I gave the outfit to my sister a long time ago, so I no longer need varnish.
old shoes
Such shoes have an unpleasant smell, they deform and lose their appearance from lying for a long time, so I threw out a pair of old sneakers and out-of-fashion shoes without regret. I stood over the winter boots a little longer: after all, real leather on sheepskin. And yet I persuaded myself to throw them away.
Air fresheners
Such artificial fragrances are associated with a pleasant atmosphere in the house, but if you knew how dangerous they are! Air fresheners contain harmful substances and poisonous toxins that adversely affect the human respiratory system and its internal organs. They can also provoke the development of cancer and mutations in DNA. In a house where there are children, sick people or pregnant women, such fragrances are very dangerous!
