Many modern women are trying to find a quick, effective and painless way to remove unwanted hair. Some prefer ways that are usually less pleasant but give longer lasting results. Others choose the path of least effort and prefer to shave. The biggest disadvantages of this method are skin irritation, the risk of cutting yourself, and the fact that you will have to repeat this procedure after a few days. Either way, in addition to saving time, this simple hair removal method will be safer and more effective if you follow these simple guidelines.

1. Time matters

Some girls think they can shave their legs anytime. But actually it is not. Water and hot steam affect hair all over your body. Higher temperatures soften the hair. Even if you don't have time to relax in the bath before shaving your legs, the result of this procedure will be much better if you take a shower first.

2. Delamination

Many women must have noticed that the gaps between razor blades quickly become clogged with debris "of unknown origin." Mostly dead skin flakes that reduce shaving performance and significantly shorten the life of even the most expensive razors or shaving heads. Before shaving, it is recommended to use scrubs or other exfoliating products. In addition, the abrasive particles in such substances will also "lift" the hairs, allowing them to be cut as close to the root as possible.

3. Product selection

Of course, we all know that special foams and gels make shaving much easier, increase its effect and make you less prone to cuts. What should women do without these products? It's simple: use soap, which is strongly discouraged. It dries out the skin and makes the hair hard. It is better to use with shaving creams, as they have a softer effect. Or… hair conditioners. These products create the perfect razor glide. The shave will be smoother and you will be less likely to cut yourself.

4. Razors are different

Many of you must have tried different razors, from the cheapest to the more expensive ones. The results were mixed and did not always meet your expectations. The reason is not the price of the razor or the brand.

A good razor has these features:

  • movable head with rounded surface;
  • practical and soft handle, usually rubberized;
  • moderate number of blades.

The rounded surface of the razor head provides better contact with the skin, and the more mobile it is, the easier it glides over the skin. Such models can follow the contours of the body, making cuts less likely. The handle must not be slippery because it may present a cut hazard. We used to think that the number of blades directly corresponds to the quality of the razor: the more, the better. However, razors with more blades are designed to cut hair below the surface of the skin, which can lead to ingrown hairs.

5. Secrets of the right movements

Most women prefer to shave their hair from the ankle up, in other words, against the grain. It is well known to speed up the process, but some may not be aware that it also irritates the skin. Also, you will have to work on the same area multiple times.

Try the following method:

  1. Shaving your legs in the opposite direction of hair growth will help reduce the volume of hairs.
  2. Carefully repeat the procedure with short and gentle movements in the opposite direction. Try to avoid passing the same area more than 1-2 times.
  3. Wash your blades frequently. Only clean blades will provide the desired result.

6. After Shave

It's no secret that after shaving, the legs require care. However, many neglect this, which also has a negative effect on the condition of the skin. After the procedure, the skin must be thoroughly moisturized. Spend a couple of minutes using a cream, lotion, or balm. These products will make your legs look more even, reduce the chances of irritation, rashes, and prevent ingrown hairs. Shaving your hair and exfoliating immediately before will leave your skin vulnerable to ultraviolet light. So, in hot seasons, it is recommended to choose skin care products with SPF factors.

7. Do I need to shave my legs above the knees?

You should always take personal preference into account when it comes to removing unwanted hair. Many women's hair on the thighs is almost invisible, as they are soft and thin. In general, each lady decides for herself whether to shave her legs above the knees. If you are faced with the choice of whether you should do this or not, take a close look at your hair. If they are clearly visible in any light, it would be better to get rid of them in terms of aesthetics.

Shaving is mistakenly considered a dangerous and ineffective method of hair removal. However, this is the fastest and easiest way. Many problems arise because we do not take into account small details, such as those described above. But it is these details that make shaving comfortable, painless and provide a longer lasting result.
